Agro-biodiversity in Peru
In a project with Katharina Dorn we mapped and documented agrobiodiversity on the example of potatoes in the Ayacucho province, Peru. This cooperation was initiated and led by Donato Ayala Prado of the Lima-based NGO Green Life and the rural community of Vischongo in 2009. The project was funded by the ASA program, Berlin. A hike on the red trail shown on the map will give visitors a good overview of the project area that includes the Titancayoc nature reserve, home to the biggest Puya raimondii forest. In the surrounding agricultural areas we talked to farmers who cultivated a large variety of potatoes.
